It's too hot to do much outside here in SE Texas and, since we're trying not to leave the house very much (thanks to COVID precautions), I've been stitching a lot. Actually I've been enjoying getting to stitch so much...it's like building all this stash over the years was preparation for sheltering in place!
We're both healthy but have heard of some family and friends who have either tested positive for COVID-19 or have had mild symptoms. I hope and pray that this pandemic will go away soon...but I think it will be with us for a long while yet. My fall stitching camp was cancelled as has the International Quilt Show that was to have been held in late Oct./early Nov.
My stitching priority was to finish the stitching on our son-in-law's stocking and send it out to Vonna, The Twisted Stitcher so she can have plenty of time to work her magic on it. The design called for white buttons on the snowman but I thought black buttons would more resemble "lumps of coal" like in Frosty's song. Besides, I had some black buttons here already that would work. I wasn't sure I liked the design but it was the one I liked best from the rest of the series that I hadn't already stitched for them. Once I finished, I found I really liked it. Often the pictures on the designs don't do the designs justice and I think that's what happened with this one.
I need to figure out which stocking designs to stitch for our son and his girlfriend. I figure by the time I chose/stitch the designs that it will be too late to get them done for this Christmas.
Next, I finished stitching the PS Santa that I want to mount in a cute sled frame I found at Kohl's last year. (I really hope they have those sleds again this year because I think they'd make great gifts for my kids.)
I decided to stitch Strawberry House for a SAL with the Littlehouse Needleworks/Country Cottage eedleworks group on Facebook. I was in a hurry to start this one and, since I didn't have the buttons or one of the floss colors, I made do from my stash. (Isn't it nice to have a big enough stash to be able to do that?) It was a fun, little stitch. I'm not sure what I'll do with it but I'll think of something.
I decided that the occasion of my birthday and an approaching tropical storm/hurricane (It turned and mostly missed us.) was a good "excuse" to start a new sampler. I'd had Ann Pegg 1877 by The Scarlett House kitted up with floss for a couple of years but just hadn't started it. Well! I'm enjoying this one so much that I can hardly put it down! I'm quite a bit further along that the pictures show after stitching last weekend.
In the spirit of finishing up some of my wips, I'm stitching a few floss lengths on BBD Home of the Brave. When I picked it up the other day, I had already stitched the alphabet, the house, and a little more. I've been working on the flag for a couple of days now. I haven't taken a picture yet of that wip.
I've found myself watching a lot of Flosstube lately. It can get me into trouble as I'm seeing lots of things I want to stitch. If only I could figure out a way to function with no sleep!!
That's all for this time.
Happy stitching!

Model finished and other stitching
Can I hear a WOO HOO!!!!!? I finished and mailed out the model and it has been received by the designer. I'll let you know when it's been released. That's always exciting fo me.
I also stitched my heart on a RR and will be sending it to the next stitcher today when I go out.
I stitched my skeleton (a PS design) for the Halloween Ornament themed sal.
I even worked a bit on my Hetty Child (The Sampler Company) sampler but not enough to take a picture yet.
Annnnndddd.......I officially started Bent Creek's "Flowers in the Springtime" for our daughter's upcoming wedding. I gave her a selection of wedding pieces from which to choose and this is her choice. It fits them...they love hiking and camping and are pretty low key (liking simple things). I love what it says. I'm enjoying stitching it and it's moving along pretty quickly.
It's sad to watch some trees being taken out of "my" walking track at the community college. They've extended the construction fence line so there's a lot of the track that's closed now. I suspect that eventually that whole field will be "developed". I took some pics this am but haven't uploaded to my computer yet.
We enjoy trying new recipes and most of the time they're pretty good ones. This week, however, we tried some Kale, Potato, Leek soup with bacon. It was just ok and not very filling. DH and I decided that it would be best used as an appetizer rather than a main course. Although it wasn't hard, it sure dirtied a lot of dishes. For the result, I decided it wasn't worth it. The new recipes can't all be winners, I guess.

Happy Friday

DS's coming home from college for the weekend so I've been busy baking cookies today. I also made some bread in the bread maching that I'll slice and freeze in small packets for him to take back to school.
I get to join some of my buddies for a stitching day tomorrow so I'm baking rosemary foccacia for that. Yum! The house smells good. Unfortunately, it's warm and humid so it was hot in the kitchen.
On the stitching front, I started (finally, I've had it in my stash for a long time) LK's Harvest Blessings. Maybe I'll even have it stitched and framed for next Thanksgiving. I also worked some more on my bap. Since I liked the BC Sow Kind Seeds so much, I thought I should start one for myself since I already have the threads pulled for the other one for the exchange.
I have a couple of finishes too...the church from the Town Square freebies (Trilogy) and LHN's Joy to the World ornament. Both were just about finished wips. It sure feels good to finish some!

Small Finish
I've also been working a bit on my bap sampler (see it in posts below), a freebie church deisgn from a 2006 freebie series called Town Square, and even picked up a wip of CHS Houses of Hawk Run Hollow. I had just a start on it using DMC's and have been debating with myself (funny to watch, I'm sure) whether or not to invest in silks for that design. After seeing another stitcher's one done in DMC's, I finally decided to stay with the DMC's. If I stitch another of the Hawk Runn series, I may go for the silks.
I'm getting overwhelmed with all the stuff I want to stitch and how little time to stitch it all. I'll never be bored. :-)
The weather has really warmed up here. After a bit of cooler than usual temps, now we're having warmer than usual temps in the mid 70's. I like this but dread the really hot and humid weather to come.
