I decided it was long enough to wish I was stitching a "big girl" sampler so I decided to spend at least one day a week on a sampler. Rather than starting a new one, I decided to work on Lucy Redd by Homespun Elegance, one that I'd barely started previously. At least for this week....who knows which one I'll work on next week.
LHN February Calendar Girl now has a head but her face needs work. I used the wrong color for her cheeks so I frogged them out after this picture was taken.
We're on baby watch and I prepared for our trip to meet her by buying a replacement carry on suitcase. (The telescoping handle of my old one keeps getting stuck.) I lucked into a decent sale at Kohl's with a coupon for an extra 20% off, triple my "yes to you" points, and earned Kohl's cash. It felt pretty good to time a promotion like that for when I needed to buy something.
I'll be using that bag for another trip this summer............to Hawaii. I'll be playing nanny for my niece and nephew for a couple of weeks. It will be nice spending some time with them, my sister and BIL, my brother and SIL, and being able to help out my sister with child care. Besides.....it's Hawaii!!!!!!
I didn't cook/bake anything interesting this week but DH made some chipotle chicken chili (from a Ree Drummond recipe) for a chili cook-off at work. While he didn't win, it must have been good because there's hardly any left.
Happy stitching!

Waiting for Baby, a Small Finish, and another WIP
Here's La D Da's Gabrielle Rose all ready except for our grandbaby's name/birth date:
It won't be long now until she's born! We cannot wait to hold her! Our son who lives in Denmark is planning his trip home to visit with her in CA and with us here. He and I may also fly together to OH to visit with my parents while he's in the States.
I stitched this little guy for the Halloween Ornament sal group. This month's theme is Mummies and Monsters so I chose "Frank" from Trilogy's Eekology leaflet.
I'm way behind on the LHN Calendar Girls but I at least started February.
I'm getting together with some stitching buddies tomorrow and I just might bake some more cranberry orange scones to take. It's been a while since we've gotten together so I'm looking forward to it.

Progress, a Finish, and Award-Winning Pie
I continue to make progress on "Gabrielle Rose". I'm enjoying stitching this sweet design.
I managed to finish the PS ornament and posted it to the Facebook JCS ornament sal group. I don't enjoy stitching on black but this wasn't too bad.
We plan a quiet weekend this weekend and will prepare a nice Valentine's dinner at home.

We were accidentally quite social last weekend with our Rook group on Friday night and our tailgating at church on Sunday. Our neighbor gave us a bag of lemons so I made a couple of lemon meringue pies to take to tailgating. There was a cook-off complete with judging and my pies won a trophy.
While tailgating, we were invited to a Superbowl party. We'd talked about the homemade limocello that DH made so we brought some of that. It was a hit at the party! All in all, it was a very lemony day.

Gabrielle Rose
I finally started the birth "sampler" for our first grandchild who is due to be born next month. (Can't wait!!!)
I'm stitching La D Da's Gabrielle Rose for her and splurged on silk floss. (I hear from my grandparent friends that it's hard to resist splurging for your grandchildren. I've already bought her a couple of outfits and a baby carrier.) I'm pleased with how it's coming along so far.
Today, also in preparation for meetig our grandbaby, I got my dtap shot.
I finished the next piece a while ago but since it was for a One Day Wonder group, I waited until the official "unveiling" on my group before showing it here too. It's from the PS "January" leaflet and reminded me of all the sledding my childhood friends and I used to do together. What fun we had!
